We have developed a suit of trail courses for the public and private sector, learn how to inspect, maintain and manage mountain bike trails in your area with one of courses.

Land and estate owners have a legal responsibility to ensure facilities are inspected and maintained for visitors to enjoy, riders also have a responsibility to use the land appropriately.

With numbers of riders growing and funding shrinking the time has come for mountain bikers to get involved and help keep the UK trail network running sweet and enjoyable for everyone.

“There is no such thing as a maintenance free mountain bike trail”

We can help land owners develop their sites and maintain not only the trails but the visitor numbers to their facilities. Properly maintained trails will require less spend per capita and help retain visitor numbers.

Connecting the riders to the landowners and visa versa is a key factor to the continued success of British Mountain Biking.

Volunteer Trail Repair Co-ordinator (VTRC)

The Volunteer Trail Repair Co-ordinator (VTRC) is the latest edition to MTBSkills and CTC’s comprehensive range of courses and training. It enables those volunteering to repair mountain bike trails and looking to co-ordinate trail repair volunteers to gain an understanding of the essential requirements.

The course has been developed with a number of partners including Developing Mountain Biking in Scotland (DMBinS) and the Forestry Commission. These partnerships have enabled the course to benefit from best practice across the mountain bike trail build sector. The course focusses on repairing mountain bike trails which is seen as an essential role of volunteer groups. It’s designed for groups maintaining a broad range of trails from wild trails to trail centre trails, bike parks and urban pocket parks.
